show review by JEAN-MARC LACARRIERE

In the original French:

Salut Tammy !!

Quel show extraordinaire!!

Webmistress' lame-ass attempt at an English translation:

Tammy Hello!!

What an extraordinary show!! Eric and his group really made our evening here!! For the second time, Eric took part in the "Blue Balls Festival," and to thank the people who were so moved the first time the group played, Eric really brought the fire!!!

In the "pit," the photographers weren't able to follow him, so they took themselves upstairs to get the best pictures!!

During the break in "Down in the Bottom," Mikey played a super drum solo, and even made the audience participate!! When Eric came back on the scene, it was déchainé!!

[Déchainé?  Okay… I have no idea how to translate this word… Pandemonium? Bedlam? Chaos? An orgy?]

Eric grabbed a security guard, got up on his shoulders, and put on a show for the public!!

[No doubt this is Eric's way of paying homage to my baby's daddy… RRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr!]

2 hours and 15 minutes of pure joy!

After the concert, Eric, Paul and Mikey stayed practically an hour and a half to sign autographs and make dedications! What a kindness and a recognition of their public!!

Tammy, I thank you in the name of all the fans from France for your site, and j'en profits to make a cuckoo with Emmanuelle, who will recognize himself!!

[Again, I'm at a loss… Help!]

With a forthcoming concert!

show review by LISA ROWLEY

If Tammy (sorry, I just can't call anyone "mistress", not of the web nor anything else) posts this review and you're reading it, then you are a fan. So I don't have to tell you about the Eric Sardinas energy, talent, style, etc. This site doesn't put a spin on his brand (respect tradition/perfection) for nothing. Jean-Marc covered all that in his review. So let's get down to the nitty gritty.

I was surprised to see the majority of the capacity crowd was there for his antics, looks and nationality. I saw a handful of men and women intensely focused on the music and musician, they knew the real reason Eric Sardinas is a star. (Sorry, I'm a bit of a Blues snob so I tend to value talent over appearance). Whatever the reason for attending, Sardinas fills the bill.

The problem with performing for the "general public" rather than devotees or blues fans, is that they don't quite get the nuances. They didn't get it when Sardinas unplugged, reacting with nervous
laughter then protesting with slow, insistent claps. He wisely didn't go off mike as he often does. They instantly forgave him with the next number and screamed their approval and amazement when he played his guitar afire, used a beer bottle for a slide, disrobed, etc (again, you're a fan, so you know the routine). In the end, they insisted on an encore and boo-ed when the event coordinator announced the performance was over. The CDs were flying off the shelf at the meet-n-greet afterwards. Once again, Eric Sardinas has proved his appeal is universal.

It was fun for me to see Paul cut loose, wild man playing his bass behind his head! Mike changed up the drum solo since I'd seen it last, just three months earlier. It was amazing - of course. Sardinas has improved his set list, arranging pieces so that pacing first impresses, then draws the crowd in and finally blows their minds.
